Saving Copper Pennies as an Investment
These are all 95% copper pennies - no post '82 copper coated zinc cents here. Right now, it is illegal to melt US cents. I believe this will change, but I never plan to melt them anyway. As the coins are now, in addition to having the metal value, they also have collector value since they are currency. It's just like the junk pre 1964 silver coins that are bought and sold based on their silver content. Copper cents are being bought and sold right now based on their copper content. Some coin dealers will pay more than face value for copper cents and some sell their copper cents on Ebay by the pound. Now is the time to save copper. One day people will be saying "I wish I had saved copper pennies when they were still in circulation". How many wish they would have saved pre '64 silver coins back when the coins were available at face value? Copper is treated today the way that silver was 50 years ago.
The United States Codes under Title 18, Chapter 17, and Section 331, "prohibits the mutilation, diminution and falsification of United States coinage." However, this statute does not prohibit the mutiliation of coins if done without fraudulent intent or use.

100% Homemade Electricity Producing Wind Turbine Several years ago I bought some remote property in Arizona. I am an astronomer and wanted a place to practice my hobby far away from the sky-wrecking light pollution found near cities of any real size. I found a great piece of property. The problem is, it's so remote that there is no electric service available. That's not really a problem. No electricity equals no light pollution. However, it would be nice to have at least a little electricity, since so much of life in the 21st century is dependant on it.
One thing I noticed right away about my property is that most of the time, the wind is blowing. Almost from the moment I bought it, I had the idea of putting up a wind turbine and making some electricity, and later adding some solar panels. This is the story of how I did it. Not with an expensive, store-bought turbine, but with a home-built one that cost hardly anything. If you have some fabricating skills and some electronic know-how, you can build one too.
Let me state up front that I probably won't be able to help you out much if you decide to build your own wind turbine. This web site has become insanely popular, often taxing the bandwidth limits of the server. I get dozens of requests for help each day. I simply don't have time to answer the majority of them. Simple questions which only require a quick and simple answer may get replies if time permits. However, there is no way I can help you out with complex issues, teach you electronics theory, help you locate parts, build a charge controller for you, or custom design a system for you. There just aren't enough hours in the day. Sorry.
I started by Googling for information on home-built wind turbines. There are a lot of them out there in an amazing variety of designs and complexities. All of them had five things in common though: 1. A generator
2. Blades
3. A mounting that keeps it turned into the wind
4. A tower to get it up into the wind
5. Batteries and an electronic control system
I reduced the project to just five little systems. If attacked one at a time, the project didn't seem too terribly difficult. I decided to start with the generator. My online research showed that a lot of people were building their own generators. That seemed a bit too complicated, at least for a first effort. Others were using surplus permanent magnet DC motors as generators in their projects. This looked like a simpler way to go. So I began looking into what motors were best for the job.
A lot of people seemed to like to use old computer tape drive motors (surplus relics from the days when computers had big reel to reel tape drives). The best apparently are a couple of models of motor made by Ametek. The best motor made by Ametek is a 99 volt DC motor that works great as a generator. Unfortunately, they are almost impossible to locate these days. There are a lot of other Ametek motors around though. A couple of their other models make decent generators and can still be found on places like Ebay . This web site talks about the virtues and vices of various Ametek motors when used as generators.

There are probably lots of other brands and models of permanent magnet DC motors available that will work well as generators. Permanent magnet DC motors work as generators, but they weren't designed to be generators. So they aren't great generators. Some types of motor are a lot worse than others. When used as generators, motors generally have to be driven far faster than their rated speed to produce anything near their rated voltage. So what you are looking for is a motor that is rated for high DC voltage, low rpms and high current. Steer away from low voltage and/or high rpm motors. You want a motor that will put out over 12 Volts at a fairly low rpm, and a useful level of current. So a motor rated for say 325 rpm at 30 Volts when used as a generator, could be expected to produce 12+ volts at some reasonably low rpm. On the other hand, a motor rated at 7200 rpm at 24 volts probably won't produce 12+ volts as a generator until it is spinning many thousands of rpm, which is way too fast for a wind turbine. So shop for motors accordingly.

Mysterious Loud 'Booms' Strike Cape Fear, N.C. (Again) - Sonic or Other? - Feb. 28, 2012
I'm offering ONE *poѕѕιвle* explanation for this ̲p̲̲a̲̲r̲̲t̲̲i̲̲c̲̲u̲̲l̲̲a̲̲r̲̲ occurrence. Overall, I must say that these booms have been reported along the east coast throughout history since long before aircraft (man-made, that is) were invented. But in some cases, maybe it is just the air force. But who knows, right? MyStEriOuS DeRp.

"Big booms and shaking were felt along the North Carolina coast Tuesday that have some people worried. Now, folks are booming with big bang theories on what they say causes the mysterious rocking and rolling along the coast.

A quick note: Herbs do not = safe. Some herbs may actually counteract other prescription drugs or be dangerous if used in combination with alcohol or sedatives, and others may be dangerous when combined with antidepressants.

Valerian
Valerian root has a long history of use as a mild sedative. Taken as supplement, valerian reduces the amount of time to slip into deep sleep. Valerian with hops also has some clinically proven results for sleeplessness, according to a 2005 study reported in the journal Sleep. It is also regularly combined with kava kava, but beware of this if you have diagnosed liver or kidney problems.
Several clinical studies suggest that valerian alone is not effective in the long-term for insomnia. I would say that, in general, any difficultly sleeping that lasts over two weeks may require more medical assistance than any herb can provide.
Lemon Balm
Lemon balm, or Melissa officinalis, has been used as a relaxant since the Middle Ages in European folk medicine. It has a clean, refreshing citrus smell so you can take it in a tea or as a supplement. Add it to your dream pillow, while you’re at it.
The effects of lemon balm are more than wishful thinking/placebo. A 2003 study in the journal Neuropsychopharmolocology found that lemon balm indirectly encourages sleep by improving mood and inducing mental calmness. Lemon balm can be called a nootropic, or a brain-enhancing supplement, as it can improve cognitive performance too.
I just brewed a mead (honey wine) with lemon balm and mugwort: it’s still fermenting but we’ve already named it “the Dreamer’s Mead.”
Passion Flower
Most European herbal sleep remedies contain passion flower, or Passiflora incarnata, even though the plant comes from the tropical regions of the Americas, where it was widely used by the Aztecs, according to journals from 16th century conquistadors.
The leaves and flowers have a mild flavor, and has a reputation for reducing anxiety and sleeplessness caused by anxiety.
While few peer-reviewed studies have been funded for passion flower, it is actually listed as a herbal tranquilizer in Germany. According to the Gale Encyclopedia of Alternative Medicine, the active ingredients may be harmaline and harmine, so do not use passion flower if you take MAOI antidepressants, as sedative effects may be amplified.
Chamomile
Chamomile may be the most recognized sleep aid, but actually many clinical studies have shown no effects of the herb for those suffering with chronic insomnia. Is chamomile a placebo due to its yummy scent? I don’t think so. Chamomile may indirectly promote sleep by increasing mental calmness.
A recent study by University of Pennsylvania researchers found that chamomile significantly reduces the symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder. This double blind study even pitted the active ingredient against a placebo pill that smelled like chamomile.
So stock up on chamomile if you haven’t already. By the way, there are many grades and species of chamomile: make sure you find German chamomile, or Matricaria recutita.

Our knowledge of Kava, or Piper methysticum, comes from indigenous cultures in the Western Pacific, who have used the roots of this shrub in intoxicating beverages for centuries. Like many of the “sleep herbs” listed here, kava is not technically a sedative, and has had mixed results in treating insomnia. Most clinical sources say it’s not effective, although it remains classified as a hypnotic.
Like chamomile and lemon balm, kava can promote sleep by decreasing anxiety. In fact the National Institutes of Health suggests that kava may be just as effective as Valium for promoting calmness.
Be warned, kava has a bad reputation because several herbal remedies with kava have been implicated in cases of liver toxicity in Europe. We do not know what exactly is to blame in these cases, such as kava overdosing or contaminates from other sources. Definitely do not take kava if you have liver issues or are taking drugs that affect the liver.

The NSA Wiretapping Story That Nobody Wanted

They sometimes call national security the third rail of politics. Touch it and, politically, you're dead.
The cliché doesn't seem far off the mark after reading Mark Klein's new book, "Wiring up the Big Brother Machine ... and Fighting It." It's an account of his experiences as the whistleblower who exposed a secret room at a Folsom Street facility in San Francisco that was apparently used to monitor the Internet communications of ordinary Americans.
Klein, 64, was a retired AT&T communications technician in December 2005, when he read the New York Times story that blew the lid off the Bush administration's warrantless wiretapping program. Secretly authorized in 2002, the program lets the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) monitor telephone conversations and e-mail messages of people inside the U.S. in order to identify suspected terrorists. Klein knew right away that he had proof -- documents from his time at AT&T -- that could provide a snapshot of how the program was siphoning data off of the AT&T network in San Francisco.
Amazingly, however, nobody wanted to hear his story. In his book he talks about meetings with reporters and privacy groups that went nowhere until a fateful January 20, 2006, meeting with Kevin Bankston of the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF). Bankston was preparing a lawsuit that he hoped would put a stop to the wiretap program, and Klein was just the kind of witness the EFF was looking for.
With the EFF on board, Klein was briefly a media celebrity -- the man who had the guts to expose the NSA's secret wiretapping program. In his book he provides the documents and the stories that illustrate how all of this transpired.
Klein has been politically active since the 1960s, when he protested the Vietnam war. "I came to view the government with great suspicion like a lot of people back then and I still do," he said in an interview he granted the IDG News service on Friday. "I guess that sort of laid the groundwork for my later experience, because I didn't trust the government to begin with."
Today he lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife, Linda, and his two dogs. He self-published his book last week.
Following is an edited transcript of the interview.
IDG News Service: By some estimates there are 15 to 20 of these secret wiretapping rooms across the country. You're the only AT&T employee who has come forward and talked about them in detail. Why?
Mark Klein: Fear. First of all it was a scary time. It still is a scary time, but during the Bush years it was sort of a witch hunt atmosphere and people were afraid. People are afraid of losing their jobs, and it's a rule of thumb that if you become a whistleblower you'll probably lose your job. And if you have a security clearance, you not only lose your job, but you probably will be prosecuted by the government. The Bush administration made that very clear in statements they made over and over again: 'Anybody who reveals anything about our secret programs will be prosecuted and we are running investigations to find out who leaked this to the New York Times.' Well that puts a fear in people.
IDG: Have you heard from other AT&T employees who told you that they knew of these activities?
Klein: I haven't tried to get in contact with people I knew at AT&T for this very reason. I didn't want to jeopardize their livelihood.
IDG: In your book you describe how a meeting with your lawyer was videotaped to preserve evidence in case you "disappeared." How scared were you?
Klein: I was very worried. The Bush administration was capable of very crazy things and illegal things. I knew they were doing torture. And I knew they had taken into custody and jailed people who were citizens of the United States ... and just thrown them away in a brig with no trial and no charges. So I didn't think it was beyond the possibility that they'd do the same to me. Maybe I was getting a little paranoid in hindsight, but hindsight is cheap.
I was most worried at the time when the LA Times was killing my story, but at the same time the LA Times showed it to the government. Then I really was panicking because that meant that the government knew everything and probably knew my name, but I didn't have any publicity.
IDGNS: The media merit a full chapter (entitled: 'Going Public vs. Media Chickens') in your book. What happened there?
Klein: The LA Times was particularly egregious because they were planning a front-page spread. They were the first entity I'd given all the documents to. Then they talked to the government about it, and it turned out they were talking to not only the NSA director, but the director of national intelligence, who was John Negroponte at the time. So that meant the government knew it. And then a few weeks later the LA Times killed the story. So the only thing you can read into is that basically the government squashed the story. [The LA Times' editor in early 2006, Dean Baquet, said the government had nothing to do with the decision. IDGNS: How long did they have the story?
Klein: I started dealing with them in late January 2006, and in February they showed it to the government, and then they started wobbling. By the end of March 2006, they officially told me the story was killed.
IDGNS: Did they cover it in April, after it became public?
Klein: No that was funny. After it finally hit the news everywhere else, the LA Times didn't run with the stuff I'd given them. They'd squashed the whole thing.
IDGNS: A lot of people you might have expected to be interested in this story weren't interested initially. In the book, you talk about going to EPIC [the Electronic Privacy Information Center] and getting nowhere; you talk about the media and you also talk about Congress. You never testified before Congress.
Klein: This book has several aspects. The first aspect is the spying itself and the technical apparatus; another aspect is the role of the media and how the media has basically functioned as a propaganda apparatus for the government, more or less willingly. Part of the book is about the struggle to make the media cover this story. And the third part of this story is about Congress. It was a struggle, a struggle which failed I might add, to get Congress to investigate and do something about this. Congress ran away from me. They didn't want to touch me with a 10-foot pole, starting with my own senator, Dianne Feinstein, who was a key member of both the Intelligence Committee in the Senate and the Judiciary Committee. She was one of the first legislators I tried to contact in February 2006. I was given the number of her chief attorney in Washington, and he first was very interested. He talked to me on the phone and asked me a bunch of detailed questions and told me he'd get back to me. And then I never heard from him again.
IDGNS: Why do you think you had trouble getting Congress interested?
Klein: With the Republicans, it's obvious why they didn't want to deal with it. Their administration was responsible for the whole illegal spying operation. The first layer of the Democratic party leadership, it turns out, had been knowledgeable and briefed on this program and was complicit, in my view.
IDGNS: What do you think you've accomplished by coming forward with these documents?
Klein: My main accomplishment is to let everybody know about what exactly the government is doing to people. How the government in detail is screwing over people's privacy and trampling over the Constitution and the Fourth Amendment, and lay out in great detail how everybody's personal lives are being delved into by the government and stored in secret databases for future reference.
They sometimes call national security the third rail of politics. Touch it and, politically, you're dead.
The cliché doesn't seem far off the mark after reading Mark Klein's new book, "Wiring up the Big Brother Machine ... and Fighting It." It's an account of his experiences as the whistleblower who exposed a secret room at a Folsom Street facility in San Francisco that was apparently used to monitor the Internet communications of ordinary Americans.
Klein, 64, was a retired AT&T communications technician in December 2005, when he read the New York Times story that blew the lid off the Bush administration's warrantless wiretapping program. Secretly authorized in 2002, the program lets the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) monitor telephone conversations and e-mail messages of people inside the U.S. in order to identify suspected terrorists. Klein knew right away that he had proof -- documents from his time at AT&T -- that could provide a snapshot of how the program was siphoning data off of the AT&T network in San Francisco.
Amazingly, however, nobody wanted to hear his story. In his book he talks about meetings with reporters and privacy groups that went nowhere until a fateful January 20, 2006, meeting with Kevin Bankston of the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF). Bankston was preparing a lawsuit that he hoped would put a stop to the wiretap program, and Klein was just the kind of witness the EFF was looking for.
With the EFF on board, Klein was briefly a media celebrity -- the man who had the guts to expose the NSA's secret wiretapping program. In his book he provides the documents and the stories that illustrate how all of this transpired.
Klein has been politically active since the 1960s, when he protested the Vietnam war. "I came to view the government with great suspicion like a lot of people back then and I still do," he said in an interview he granted the IDG News service on Friday. "I guess that sort of laid the groundwork for my later experience, because I didn't trust the government to begin with."
Today he lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife, Linda, and his two dogs. He self-published his book last week.
Following is an edited transcript of the interview.
IDG News Service: By some estimates there are 15 to 20 of these secret wiretapping rooms across the country. You're the only AT&T employee who has come forward and talked about them in detail. Why?
Mark Klein: Fear. First of all it was a scary time. It still is a scary time, but during the Bush years it was sort of a witch hunt atmosphere and people were afraid. People are afraid of losing their jobs, and it's a rule of thumb that if you become a whistleblower you'll probably lose your job. And if you have a security clearance, you not only lose your job, but you probably will be prosecuted by the government. The Bush administration made that very clear in statements they made over and over again: 'Anybody who reveals anything about our secret programs will be prosecuted and we are running investigations to find out who leaked this to the New York Times.' Well that puts a fear in people.
IDG: Have you heard from other AT&T employees who told you that they knew of these activities?
Klein: I haven't tried to get in contact with people I knew at AT&T for this very reason. I didn't want to jeopardize their livelihood.
IDG: In your book you describe how a meeting with your lawyer was videotaped to preserve evidence in case you "disappeared." How scared were you?
Klein: I was very worried. The Bush administration was capable of very crazy things and illegal things. I knew they were doing torture. And I knew they had taken into custody and jailed people who were citizens of the United States ... and just thrown them away in a brig with no trial and no charges. So I didn't think it was beyond the possibility that they'd do the same to me. Maybe I was getting a little paranoid in hindsight, but hindsight is cheap.
I was most worried at the time when the LA Times was killing my story, but at the same time the LA Times showed it to the government. Then I really was panicking because that meant that the government knew everything and probably knew my name, but I didn't have any publicity.
IDGNS: The media merit a full chapter (entitled: 'Going Public vs. Media Chickens') in your book. What happened there?
Klein: The LA Times was particularly egregious because they were planning a front-page spread. They were the first entity I'd given all the documents to. Then they talked to the government about it, and it turned out they were talking to not only the NSA director, but the director of national intelligence, who was John Negroponte at the time. So that meant the government knew it. And then a few weeks later the LA Times killed the story. So the only thing you can read into is that basically the government squashed the story. [The LA Times' editor in early 2006, Dean Baquet, said the government had nothing to do with the decision. 'We did not have a story, that we could not figure out what was going on,' he told ABC News -- ed.]

An internet routing plot plan verifying the exact travel of website data has revealed that stories and other communications e-mailed from a Pennsylvania computer to be posted at a server in Tulsa, Oklahoma are first routed into Denver / Colorado Springs and then across the Atlantic to Amsterdam, Holland, back through Denver and then to the hosting server in Tulsa.
The discovery was made by the webmaster for TomFlocco.com after becoming curious about the internet route taken by the data and the length of time it took to post a new story when the data only had to travel over the webmaster’s phone line across the state to the hosting server in Tulsa.
After contacting a U.S. intelligence source, we were told that Department of Justice (DoJ) investigators have identified an Israeli intelligence internet provider in Amsterdam as a co-conspirator with both the National Security Agency (NSA) and Verizon-MCI in the ongoing Bush administration spy intrusion into the private and personal lives of millions of Americans without their previous knowledge or permission.
Another federal agency official with long-time experience and impeccable credentials told us, “MCI is an NSA shadow company. Just remember that MCI equals NSA and you’ll always be correct in your research and investigation.”
On February 14, 2005, Verizon announced its intention to purchase MCI for $6.7 billion, after which the company became involved in a strained bidding war with Qwest Communications.
MCI investors sharply criticized the Verizon takeover which was recently finalized; but federal prosecutors probing NSA spying will have reason to subpoena Verizon regarding whether the Bush administration’s approval of Verizon’s MCI takeover had anything to do with the company’s willingness to provide private phone and email records to the NSA to spy on U.S. citizens.
U.S. intelligence sources within the Special Operations Group (SOG) are reporting that NSA computers have been downloading financial and personal files of all American citizens as a result of upgrades to the Echelon satellite network and software program which is part of the Prosecutor’s Management Information System (PROMIS).
SOG says the NSA has a “7-10 second lead time” which effectively affords the agency the opportunity to delay the release of currency, stock and bond sales transactions permitting a criminal advantage to agency officials and other high-level associates who game the system of the world’s financial markets to steal investment capital from both U.S. and foreign citizens throughout the world.
Personal phone service shut down after posting story
A TomFlocco.com phone call on Friday to Verizon seeking comment for this report on why the company provided personal phone records to the NSA without the knowledge or permission of its customers resulted in a “no comment” response from a Verizon spokesperson identifying herself only as Mrs. Singh: “We are not able to comment on whether we have cooperated with the NSA in this matter since this is a classified issue; but we’re confident that we are within the law. We are protecting your privacy but we cannot comment further.”
When we asked whether Verizon would deny helping the NSA to spy on Americans, Mrs. Singh’s response was “we cannot comment on that.”
We also asked to speak to the Verizon legal or security departments, or even the consumer public relations department for a comment; but we were told “We appreciate that this matter is causing concern among our customers but it will not be possible for you to speak to either group. We cannot comment on whether we cooperated with the NSA because it’s classified.”
Later that afternoon, wide news reports indicated that Verizon was sued for $5 billion for illegally providing phone numbers and records to the NSA without the knowledge or permission of Verizon customers.

Internet IP address logs from this writer’s computer firewall security system provide evidence that the Department of Defense (DoD) is conducting surveillance, since logs show DoD internet identification numbers during specific occasions while we conducted phone interviews with intelligence agents and other sources, and also while reports were being researched and word processed for stories regarding White House crime family activities.

A U.S intelligence source wishing to remain anonymous but who has direct knowledge of the operations said U.S. cable internet corporations have joined the widely-reported telephone company operations to assist in compiling the largest database in history on American citizens while “using super-secret 5th generation Cray computers to tap into dial-up, DSL and high-speed broadband internet connections which have satellite voice recognition and keystroke monitoring capabilities.”
This is the first indication that the NSA is also monitoring websites and personal e-mail communications of American citizens without their knowledge or permission.
The government official said “the voice patterns and voice print recognition comes from the original Inslaw systems which are hooked up to E-Systems Dallas voice recognition software and linked over to the NSA.”
The long-time agent added that “part of the reason they are spying on Americans is to create an ‘enemies list’ of those critical of George W. Bush,” adding “the monitored phrases and words trigger networks of contacts between people around the country who are inter-related to other activists regarding issues such as the Iraq War, NSA spying, illegal immigration and critical reporters.”
The unnamed official also told us “the U.S. and foreign intelligence community has been using lead bags for the purpose of preventing satellite surveillance and physical reconnaissance ever since the Bush administration commenced a national spy program.”
On condition of anonymity, the source added, “driver’s licenses are already set up with chips for future use in capturing financial, medical and other personal and/or private records and information for use by the Bush administration and Congress to maximize tax compliance, national identification or for potential political purposes.”

The Bush spy program enemies list “would be used to organize groups for internment camps—particularly the big camp being developed in northeast Yuma county, Arizona where most of the ‘problem patriots and activists’ would be housed if Mr. Bush is allowed to remain in power during another major terrorist or biological event,” said the unnamed federal agent.
An October 27, 2001 report in the Houston Chronicle confirmed the existence of secret surveillance lists, and that NSA lawyers ordered a massive shredding program of the names and phone numbers of innocent Americans in late October, 2001; but the NSA made copies of the unlawful list, according to two former U.S. officials.
Federal prosecutors will likely have interest in the fact that the NSA reportedly mailed the list to then Under Secretary of State and current White House Chief of Staff John Bolton who emailed the list to Treadstone Space #77 in Colorado.
“All political critics of the Bush or Clinton families have had their names, phone numbers and addresses stored by the NSA at Treadstone Space #71/77,” said national security expert Thomas Heneghan, who confirmed another federal agent’s assertion that the NSA is being assisted by MCI regarding the Bush administration spy operation on the American people.
“#77 is the Colorado division of # 71 in New York State which is also linked to secret FBI Division 5 operations connected to both the Bush and Clinton families without the knowledge of U.S. citizens,” added Heneghan.
The national security watchdog said “the Bush-Clinton crime families are planning a bird flu pandemic as an excuse for a temporary martial law government to cover up ongoing corruption and crimes committed against the American people.”
A flu pandemic would allow Mr. Bush to suspend constitutional rights and round up patriot critics on the NSA/Treadstone death-spy list where they could transport innocent U.S. citizens who are politically outspoken to internment camps in locations such as the one in Yuma county, referred to earlier by another federal agent.

Solway Firth Spaceman
The Solway Firth Spaceman (also known as the Solway Spaceman and the Cumberland Spaceman) refers to a photograph taken by Jim Templeton in 1964 at Burgh Marsh, situated near Burgh by Sands and overlooking the Solway Firth in Cumbria, England. Templeton claims the photograph shows a background figure wearing a space suit and insists that he did not see anyone present when the photograph was taken. The image has attracted interest from ufologists and has become a source of international fascination. Templeton insists that he did not see the figure until after his photographs were developed, and analysts at Kodak confirmed that the photograph was genuine. Responding to a request from ufologists to know if the photo was of interest to the authorities, a British Ministry of Defence official said that the Templeton photo was of no interest to them.

On 23 May 1964, Jim Templeton, a firefighter from Carlisle, Cumberland, (now part of Cumbria,) took three photographs of his five-year-old daughter while on a day trip to Burgh Marsh.] The only other people on the marshes that day were a couple of old ladies, and although cows and sheep would have normally been plentiful, they were huddled together at the far end of the marsh. In a letter to the Daily Mail in 2002, Templeton recalled, “I took three pictures of my daughter Elizabeth in a similar pose – and was shocked when the middle picture came back from Kodak displaying what looks like a spaceman in the background.” Templeton insists that he did not see the figure until after his photographs were developed, and analysts at Kodak confirmed that the photograph was genuine.
Templeton tells of a visit after the photograph was published by two men who, he says, claimed to be from Her Majesty’s Government, but refused to show their identification. He says that they referred to each other as numbers and asked him questions about the weather conditions on the day of the photograph and about the activities of local bird life. They drove Templeton to the marsh, where he says they tried to make him admit that he had in fact photographed a passer by — a suggestion that he strongly rejected. The men then became angry and drove away leaving him stranded on the marsh five miles from home.
Templeton spoke to the Daily Mail in December 2002. He said of the photograph: “I took the picture to the police in Carlisle who, after many doubts, examined it and stated there was nothing suspicious about it. The local newspaper, the Cumberland News, picked up the story and within hours it was all over the world. The picture is certainly not a fake, and I am as bemused as anyone else as to how this image appeared in the background. Over the four decades the photo has been in the public domain, I have had many thousands of letters from all over the world with various ideas or possibilities – most of which make little sense to me.” Templeton asserted that he had experienced no financial gain as a result of distributing the photograph, nor did he ever pursue it. In an interview recorded for BBC television, Templeton spoke candidly about the photograph, saying: “Who is he? Where’s he from? Those are the two questions we want answered.” The case was also covered in the BBC One series Secrets of the Paranormal, presented by Jenny Randles.
Australian connection
A Blue Streak launch at the Woomera Test Range, using Cumbrian-built weaponry, had been aborted because of two large men seen on the firing range. Technicians at the time did not know about Templeton’s sighting until it appeared on the front page of an Australian Newspaper, and they said that the figure in Cumbria looked the same as the ones they had seen on the monitor at Woomera. Templeton told the BBC that technicians considered the two figures to be “exactly the same type of man: same dress, same figure, same size” as in the original photograph.

Strange Sounds Reported Around North Battleford Jan 2012
There's been a lot of buzz over the last few weeks about strange sounds being heard in the atmosphere. People around the world and here at home have reported hearing some bizarre noises. The latest were recorded in the Battlefords last weekend.
Ian Hamilton, North Battleford's mayor, says he can't explain it. "What I experienced was a scraping sound, like a snowplow."
Mike Halstead, a North Battleford resident, was lying in bed when his phone rang. Calls and text messages came in from his friends, each reporting strange noises. "That's when the goose bumps got me and I thought 'that's awfully strange'."
It's now days after and the city is still abuzz with talk about the sounds. Everyone has his or her own theory. But the phenomenon has stretched beyond North Battleford. Similar experiences were reported in Saskatoon, northern Saskatchewan, and parts of the USA and Europe.
University of Saskatchewan professor Jean-Pierre St. Maurice says there is a natural explanation. "Somehow they are picking up noise from an electrical antenna that is there. That is electromagnetic noise. "
St. Maurice says its normal and there is nothing to worry about. Whether a scientific explanation will satisfy all the people who heard something they can't explain is up in the air.

What does the National Security Agency have to do with Microsoft? Apparently, a lot. The NSA worked with Microsoft in its development of the Windows 7 operating software. And the relationship may stretch further back -- as far as the late 80's and previous operating systems manufactured by the company. Is this cause for concern for people who want to ensure their privacy? Is this another exmaple of Big Brother watching?

I suggest viewers of my blog do this little test and check out if NSA is listening to your IP.

The term 'Cantenna' originally referred to a product sold by Heathkit Co. in Benton Harbor, MI, USA. It was a 50-ohm resistive load used by radio amateurs.[1] However, in the more casual vernacular of the Do-It-Yourself community, it has functionally become a portmanteau of can (e.g. an empty Pringles can, see below) and antenna, since they're used to broadcast (and receive) signals, and not just terminate them.

Although some designs are based on a Pringles potato chip can, in reality this tube is too narrow to be practical.[2], however a cantenna can be made from various cans or tubes of an appropriate diameter.[3] Some designs include a pole mount to elevate the cantenna.[4]
Usage
While cantennas are useful for extending a wireless local area network (WLAN), the tiny design makes them ideal for mobile applications such as wardriving. The design of the cantenna is so simple that it is often the first antenna WiFi experimenters learn to build. Cantennas can even be used to increase cell phone range,[5] improve reception and decrease noise.

A tremendous tornado whirling across the surface of the sun was captured by a NASA satellite recently -- an amazing wonder of the solar system that may be as big as the Earth itself.
The video was recorded by the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), a sun-watching satellite that has transmitted a series of stunning photos of solar flares in recent months. The new video shows darker, cooler plasma shifting back and forth above the sun's surface over the span of nearly 30 hours stretching from Feb. 7 to Feb. 8. And the giant tornado may be as large as the Earth itself, with gusts of up to 300,000 mph, explained Terry Kucera, deputy SOHO project scientist and a solar physicist with NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. "It's about 15,000 degrees Fahrenheit -- relatively cool," Kucera told FoxNews.com. After all, the sun's corona is a whopping 2 million degrees, she explained.
Such tornadoes (Kucera classed it a "solar prominence") have been known of for decades; the European Space Agency's SOHO spacecraft captured evidence of them as early as 1996, mainly near the Sun's north and south poles at the time. And though they resemble their cousins here on Earth, they're created entirely differently, Kucera said -- through magnetism, not pressure and temperature fluctuations. "Those motions you see, it's all just moving along the magnetic field somehow -- but we're still looking to understand what's happening with these things," Kucera said.
The storm was created by competing magnetic forces, which pull the charged magnetic particles on the sun back and forth, creating a spinning mass of plasma that tracks along strands of magnetic field lines, NASA explained. The spinning top of the tornado is mesmerizing, but Kucera noted the span of the prominence as well. The long, ribbon shapes could span hundreds of thousands of miles, she said. "In total length, this could be dozens of Earths -- quite large," she said. Such detailed, high-resolution recordings of the immense tornadoes was not possible until the launch of SDO. The satellite has several cameras on board that capture solar activity in different wavelengths and frequencies, all in the name of science. "Each wavelength of light tells us something different," she said.

So I canceled my ONSTAR due to privacy concerns. I don't know how best to explain it but when the _ _ _ taps your ONSTAR you can't make calls and it won't save you in an emergency. That came to light during a case in which this type of government surveillance was used to nab some mafia types or whatever. Since believing in the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and US Sovereignty gets a person on the "list" nowadays I figured it was time for the spybox to go.
FBI Caught Spying on Student with GPS Tracking Device
A 20 year old computer salesman and community college student, took his car in for an oil change earlier this month and his mechanic spotted an odd wire hanging from the undercarriage.
The wire was attached to a strange magnetic device that puzzled Yasir Afifi and the mechanic. They freed it from the car and posted images of it online, asking for help in identifying it.
Two days later, FBI agents arrived at Afifi's Santa Clara apartment and demanded the return of their property, a global positioning system tracking device now at the center of a raging legal debate over privacy rights.
One federal judge wrote that the widespread use of the device was straight out of George Orwell's novel, "1984".
"By holding that this kind of surveillance doesn't impair an individual's reasonable expectation of privacy, the panel hands the government the power to track the movements of every one of us, every day of our lives," wrote Alex Kozinski, the chief judge of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, in a blistering dissent in which a three-judge panel from his court ruled that search warrants weren't necessary for GPS tracking.
But other federal and state courts have come to the opposite conclusion.
Law enforcement advocates for the devices say GPS can eliminate time-consuming stakeouts and old-fashioned "tails" with unmarked police cars. The technology had a starring role in the HBO cops and robbers series "The Wire" and police use it to track every type of suspect, from terrorist to thieves stealing copper from air conditioners.
That investigators don't need a warrant to use GPS tracking devices in California troubles privacy advocates, technophiles, criminal defense attorneys and others.

A new California Supreme court case may change law enforcements ability to search your cell phones for emails, texts and personal photos WITHOUT a search warrant. This case is significant because this changes the way the fourth amendment is being interpreted The case rules that police can now search through your cell phone for up to 90 minutes after your arrest. So anything observed on your cell/smart phone such as privates and personal texts, emails, photos or other data can now be used as probable cause for your arrest or in your prosecution for a criminal offense.

The common theme in conspiracy theories about a New World Order is that a secretive power elite with a globalist agenda is conspiring to eventually rule the world through an authoritarian world government — which replaces sovereign nation-states — and an all-encompassing propaganda that ideologizes its establishment as the culmination of history's progress. Significant occurrences in politics and finance are speculated to be orchestrated by an unduly influential cabal operating through many front organizations. Numerous historical and current events are seen as steps in an on-going plot to achieve world domination through secret political gatherings and decision-making processes.
The Order of the Illuminati was an Enlightenment-age secret society founded on 1 May 1776, in Ingolstadt (Upper Bavaria), by Adam Weishaupt, who was the first lay professor of canon law at the University of Ingolstadt. The movement consisted of advocates of freethought, secularism, liberalism, republicanism and gender equality, recruited in the Masonic Lodges of Germany, who sought to teach rationalism through mystery schools. In 1785, the order was infiltrated, broken up and suppressed by the government agents of Charles Theodore, Elector of Bavaria, in his preemptive campaign to neutralize the threat of secret societies ever becoming hotbeds of conspiracies to overthrow the Bavarian monarchy and its state religion, Roman Catholicism.
In the late 18th century, reactionary conspiracy theorists, such as Scottish physicist John Robison and French Jesuit priest Augustin Barruel, began speculating that the Illuminati survived their suppression and became the masterminds behind the French Revolution and the Reign of Terror. The Illuminati were accused of being subversives who were attempting to secretly orchestrate a revolutionary wave in Europe and the rest of the world in order to spread the most radical movements of the Enlightenment — anti-clericalism, anti-monarchism, and anti-patriarchalism — and create a world noocracy. During the 19th century, fear of an Illuminati conspiracy was a real concern of European ruling classes, and their oppressive reactions to this unfounded fear provoked in 1848 the very revolutions they sought to prevent.
During the interwar period of the 20th century, fascist propagandists, such as British revisionist historian Nesta Helen Webster and American socialite Edith Starr Miller, not only popularized the myth of an Illuminati conspiracy but claimed that it was a subversive secret society which serves the Jewish elites that supposedly propped up both finance capitalism and Soviet communism in order to divide and rule the world. American evangelist Gerald Burton Winrod and other conspiracy theorists within the fundamentalist Christian movement in the United States, which emerged in the 1910s as a backlash against the principles of Enlightenment secular humanism, modernism, and liberalism, became the main channel of dissemination of Illuminati conspiracy theories in America. Right-wing populists, such as members of the John Birch Society, subsequently began speculating that some collegiate fraternities (Skull and Bones), gentlemen's clubs (Bohemian Club) and think tanks (Council on Foreign Relations, Trilateral Commission) of the American upper class are front organizations of the Illuminati, which they accuse of plotting to create a New World Order through a one-world government.
Skeptics argue that evidence would suggest that the Bavarian Illuminati was nothing more than a curious historical footnote since there is no evidence that the Illuminati survived its suppression in 1785.
